Where Learning Is Life....and Life is Learning!

Portfolio Objectives:

Within this portfolio, I really strived to provide as much information as possible about my experience within the program of Adult Education. I can say that the program itself was such a great experience. I wanted this portfolio to provide more detail for those who may be considering applying to this program of study. I also wanted to have a thorough summary that I could look back on and remind myself of what I had learned.

The "home" page is simply a starter page. I do believe that within this program through the University of Wyoming, I have come to realize that "learning is life and life is learning." The pictures used on the home page and conclusion page are of the Teton Mountains located in Teton National Park near Jackson, Wyoming. Originially, I was going to try and elongate the "about me" page but I was unsuccessful at that. I have always been a "get to the point" person and I just could not squeeze anymore out here. I think I summed myself up in a nutshell.

The "personal resume" page was pretty much just a quick little recap of a professional resume that I had already had on file. I really liked the little picture I found of the people climbing the books though. I think that picture really explains a great deal without providing words. One is trying to get to the top of the books, some are below encouraging them and some are above helping to pull them up. I know I have felt like this a time or two before. The "my personal learning" page was a fun one for me to put together. The beginning of it is just mainly my feelings but then I get into my actual personal learning theory, supported by existing theory.

As for the "learning and instruction, general foundations, leadership and practice" pages, whew that took some work and time. I first started with the course descriptions and followed with all that I had gained or had not gained from the courses. Overall, I was very pleased with being able to go over all of these courses again. It was a bit of a refresher for me. The "Evidence, Evidence(page 2), Evidence (page 3)" pages were probably the most work for me. I had to go back to all of my previous coursework and select some of my writings that I thought best reflected my level of growth from beginning to end. By the end of these pages, I ended up with eighteen papers that I had written in previous courses. As any reader can see, the papers in the end are much more thorough and complete than in the beginning and throughout.

Portfolio Experience:

All in all, this experience was a great one for me. I must admit that this project took a great deal of time and consideration. However, throughout that intensity, I found myself refreshing on things that I had forgotten, familiarizing with ideas and concepts that I had used for support in the beginning of the program and had left out towards the end of the program. I feel that this project is something that all Masters programs should end in, regardless of thesis or plan b preference. It really shows the student just what they have learned.

The tripod website itself was pretty easy to work with, for the most part. I wanted to set up my evidence work a little different but the most columns that this site offers is three. Also, this site doesn't really allow for much change in format, once the initial format is selected. I do feel as though I was able to complete and fulfill all of the portfolio requirements through this site though. These requirements included 1.Table of Contents(check) 2. General Introduction (check) 3.Resume (check) 4. Philosophy of Education (check)5. Summary Statements for each core area (check)6.Evidence (check, double check, triple check :) Last but not least, this conclusion, which I hope provides a better look into the creation of my ePortfolio.
